Comments: Firearms Ownership

Sadly, I own none, but only because I'm a student and poorer than... Something REALLY poor, anyway.

I do already have my FAC and permission for five different firearms, just not the wherewithall to actually get 'em.

The poll thingy didn't work for me, but you can put me down for six and plenty of fodder for them as well.

Ah, gives you a warm rosy glow doesn't it?!

Posted by Bruce at October 29, 2009 10:34 AM

Zero. I reckon I could do with a .308 and a .22 for starters.

Poll only goes up to more than to. put me in the category for 35. The next on the list is an Accuracy International AW!!!

Poll not working for me either.

Put me down for...

7 Handguns
7 Rifles
1 Shotgun

Posted by trainer at October 29, 2009 10:22 PM

I felt bad ticking a measly seven until I saw that a third of people have none!

I bought two of my rifles when I lived in England. One shotgun was acquired here in Canada, and my other rifle, shotgun, air rifle and speargun were all got in South Africa.

So how do I vote?!

Posted by Conrad at October 29, 2009 11:42 PM

Apologies for the double post, but to clear that up I lived in SA before England so had the lot minus one shotgun whilst in the UK.

Posted by Conrad at October 29, 2009 11:43 PM

Regrettably zero at present.
Dream line up?

CZ Model 527 / 7.62x39mm - a good medium range cartridge in a superb medium range rifle. No point in me having anything long range, my eyes are knackered now!

A good quality .22 plinker e.g. Winchester 290 for stress relief..!

And on principle, that household essential the double barrel 12 or 16 bore. I'll listen to anyone better informed than me as to which one, as the friends 12b & 16b I've tried have never felt comfortable - maybe just the wrong size for me.

14 at last count, lest we include the half dozen "weapons" attributed to the youth of the family. I am honing in a .45 handgun with a recent refund cheque from the gubbermint. That "Kim" person (now a radio personality no less!) should be smiling as he provided definitive insight into the selection process.

Actually, poverty has turned my once-proud gun safe into a pale shadow of its former self.

Not to worry, though: I still have a few rifles and handguns floating around -- but only one shotgun. (I know, I know... but we're short of the readies, and shotguns of the type beloved by The Mrs. are hellish spendy.)

One of my last acts before leaving the septic isle was to mail my FAC (and my wife's) back to HM Plod with a polite note telling them to stuff it.

Having escaped to the free world, I now own what the UK gutter press would call a 'deadly arsenal'

Posted by stuart at October 30, 2009 6:13 AM

Stuart, the UK gutter press would call a couple of BB guns and an air rifle a 'deadly arsenal'! I often amuse myself my imagining the colour they would go if they saw my straight-pull AK...

Oh, and;
3 .22s
1 .17 hmr
2 .303s, an original jungle carbine and another modified for hunting
3 shotguns
1 wartime Walther p38
1 Russian sks
1 30/30

Well, I regret that I come under the 0 heading. On the other hand I have a hankering (am I allowed that?) for 19th century firearms but will try anything once (and that, your Honour is the case for the defence...) Still, I shoot a mean longbow and still teach safe use of knives and axes to young people.
TTFN :)

Sadly zero for me, unless airguns are counted in which case, three rifles and two pistols.

Posted by Steff at October 31, 2009 8:29 PM
