Be very very careful what you wish for?

Upon ascending to throne in 1603, James I remarked

Hunting with hounds is the most honourable & noble sort of sport, but it is a thievish form of hunting to shoot with gunnes

& we shall take fox hunting as our main theme for this morning dear readers. It would appear that Tory Boy Cameron & his Conservatives Lite have pledged to offer a free vote in the House of Commons on the repeal of the hunting ban despite the fact that with the country in a state of utter bankruptcy there are possibly slightly more pressing matters that need addressing. Notwithstanding the harsh economic realities of life the entire rural agenda has once again been completely hijacked by the fox hunters as the leader in this months edition of The Field is testament to

Now regular readers will know that I have absolutely no problem with the donkey whoppers save for regarding it as a rather inefficient means of vermin control - however a lot of my chums seem to quite enjoy it & good luck to them. How they chose to spend their time on private land is absolutely no business of mine or anyone else come to that. But as the level of baying (& braying) from the Shires increases, not that I like to court controversy or be controversial in any way, I would like to counsel caution for just a moment & ask you all to consider this...

The Hunting Act 2004 is now widely recognised as one of the more failed pieces of legislation ramped through parliament by Nu Labours urban based majority of MPs & that is really saying something because under both Blair & Brown, there have been tomes of very bad laws. But this one in particular, not only is it so badly drafted that it is partically unenforceable, down in these yerrrr parrrrrts the Chief Constables simply don’t bother enforcing it having recognised quite correctly that it would be so divisive that it isn’t worth alienating 99.99% of the population just to try & save a few foxes scrawny necks that are probably going to end up getting shot in any case

As the former Lord Chancellor, the uber smug champagne socialist Charlie Falconer pointed out on the BBC’s Question Time (in those few fleeting moments when he wasn’t legalising gay sex in public lavatories), the antis got their ban & fox hunting has continued pretty much as before; therefore everyone is happy

However if a new Tory administration were to repel the ban, at least for a time, the fox hunters will be happy. But when the socialists next have a parliamentary majority & that dark day will surely come in time, what exactly will they do? Of course they will ban it again but this time the legislation won’t be so full of holes that you can drive a pack of hounds through it. Just a thought you understand but just sometimes, a classic English fudge is possibly the best of all outcomes

Shame they didnt do the same with firearms legislation. D.V.C.

Whether the Tories repeal it or not, the Stalinists will either reintroduce a tougher one, OR simply tighten up the existing one under the terms of all their mini-Enabling-Acts.

Either way, all foxes will disappear under Stalinism, owing to being shot, gassed, poisoned or snared.

This will of course create a publicity-opportunity for Natural England, to re-introdice a "flagship species" via a "well-co-ordinated public relations and opinion-leading campaign".

"Man is the reason why the Fox is missing".....

The tories are responsible for all of the shameful firearms legislation in this country, Bliar (scum as he is) only banned the .22rf pistols which were to be stored at clubs eventually!
Lesson here is trust noone especially politicians of any persuasion!
