From BBC Radio Five Live’s Simon Mayo Show:

Jo Brand: My personal opinion is that you can't be racist towards white people. You can be prejudiced about them but being prejudiced isn't an illegal act whereas being racist can be.

Phil Williams: Don't you think racism is just being derogatory about a race, regardless of the colour?

Jo Brand: No I don't. I think the definition of racism also encompasses political power. So you can't be racist towards a race that’s politically more powerful than a minority. That to me is the correct definition of racism. I think you can be prejudiced towards a group of people who are more powerful than you, but I don’t think you can be racist towards them.

Please be clear dear readers, in this dark dank little corner of the internet we don’t hurling abuse at women because they are overweight warty lesbians & the inane drivel that emanates from self loathing white liberals is greeted with nothing more than a knowing smile. In fact the only ‘self’ that we do here is self medicating with decent sized measures of single malt. I am happy to report that your humble correspondent has been on an intensive course of treatment this evening while watching Generation Kill – definitely a better way of spending time than worrying about some washed up oude dijk. The reason that we smile knowingly is that we know that Ms Brand’s name is already on The List & we rejoice upon hearing her opinions being voiced , because we know that this sort of high quality content & programming can only be brought to you by the unique way that the Bolshevik Broadcasting Corporation is funded

That isn't a Klansman! The photo's of a Spanish nazareno, hence the tall hood.

Otherwise, very sound post.

Perhaps we are too hard on her, maybe if she was not so unattractive in body and mind she might have been able to get a human mate of the opposite sex and kept her sanity?
Mind you, perhapsshe is correct, otherwise the whole EU should be arrested for racialism>

What she spouts seems to be her opinion, rather than a decent argument.

This argument is not new.

The first time I heard it was at a so-called "open discussion" on race in America at the University of Colorado in 1991. It was far from open. It was a programmed venue for beating up whites.

The forum was run by Glenn Morris, a Harvard-trained COMMUNIST political science professor and poseur American Indian (like his buddy Ward Churchill).

Morris stated, matter-of-factly that, "people of color CANNOT be racist because they lack power."

That was when I gave my him my best incredulous Scooby Doo impression, "Ruh???"

The fact of the matter is that not only CAN blacks be racist, they are much better at it than whites.

They hate whites. They hate Asians. They hate Hispanics. They hate gays. Basically, they hate anyone who steals their spotlight of victimhood.

"Racism", Dr. Morris and all your leftist buddies, is "the belief that people of another race are inferior." While many people are indeed racist, few of the attitudes and behaviors you recognize meet this definition.

They might be "prejudiced". Blacks are prejudiced too, against whites AND against blacks. Blacks don't trust each other any more than we trust them. Why? Because they know how they are. Prejudice is an important survival tool. We can always apologize to good people later when we discover we've prejudged them. But you sometimes don't get a second chance when you don't pre-judge someone. Bottom line, if I see a young black man walking toward my car at night, I'm locking the door. Nothing good can come of not locking the door except perhaps gaining an iota of faith in the goodness of humanity. Lots of bad things can happen if I don't lock the door. This is a simple min-max regret decision.

People might be "discriminating". Discrimination is normal and natural. People pick their friends, coworkers, and neighbors based on factors other than objective reasons. Again, this is a survival tool.

But this behavior isn't "racist". Apparently, "prejudice", "discrimination" and "racism" all blend together in the leftist lexicon.

While there are certainly many whites who believe blacks are inferior solely because of their race (and thus, they are racists), many others are just sick and tired of the way the "black community" behaves both individually and collectively.

We don't like their hateful, disgusting, mind-destroying music. We don't like their aggressive, scheming, money-grubbing attitudes. We don't like their loud, obnoxious, boisterous, intimidating, disruptive, anti-social behavior. We don't like hearing them constantly whine that "racism" is the excuse for their every failure and demands for preferential treatment as a remedy.

We only have its word that it is in fact female...something I refuse to believe, could God be so cruel or perhaps his sense of humour is a tad twisted.

James - Could it be a Spanish nazareno who is in the Klan?

I, like our good host am not a racist, but if any uber-liberals accuse me of making a racist comment, I always reply that it was not racist, just race-related. It always stops them dead in their tracks as they cant take the intellectual argument any further and slope off scrapping their knuckles on the tarmac!

"No I don't. I think the definition of racism also encompasses political power. So you can't be racist towards a race that’s politically more powerful than a minority"

So let me get this straight: According to Jo I can call my vernacular, ANC-voting chums assorted outlawed offensive names and they can't accuse me of racism?

Let's just say that I'll wait for Ms Brand to visit Soweto and prove her theory to my satisfaction before I follow suit.

Actually she's been married since 1997 and has two daughters. But why let the facts get in the way of a good rant.

Correct, Jo Brand is not a lesbian. She is an extreme left wing ranting old hag, however, and as such gets her arse kissed by the BBC, as is her due. She was at the front line telling Thatch jokes in the 80's after all, and therefore deserves to be treated with respect as a veteran of the kulturkampf.

Everthewatcher,

I think that Jo Brand is a lesbian like Mr. FM is a racist. The appearance may make one think that is the case, but the reality is quite the opposite.

Generation Kill - "Get Some!"

If USMC officers and senior NCOs were that dim, I'd be working for the Japanese.Wait....

Well said Powinca, right on the money!

Mr FM - well played. I hadn’t thought of that.
