There is usually only a limited amount of damage that can be done by dull or stupid people. For creating a truly monumental disaster, you need people with high IQs

This also explains why there are more average than very high IQ people. Pride goeth into the mine field.

Let me correct the good doctor slightly.
To create a truly monumental disaster, you need to have people with high IQs leading hordes of people with low IQs.
Obama won overwhelming majorities of both high school dropouts and post-graduates. He has both the ignorant morons and the narcissistic, self-indulgent elitists in his camp.
An interesting point to note, though, is that the proportion of self-reported post-graduates was more than double the national percentage. After adjusting for their voter turnout, the polls still show significantly higher post-grads and significantly lower high school dropouts. In other words, many of them lied to the pollster about their education level.
