Tuesday Night Dinner
Tonight I dined at the East India Club

The first bottle of club port was delicious, the second even better. May I take this opportunity to commend it to your good offices.

Noted.
I consider my good offices suitably commended.
Even I will concede it certainly looks a bit classier than the Taj in Chunking Mansions; but at least there I have a VIP Membership Card...

Gawd. Reminds me of the old Rand Club in Johannesburg. I can never look at a boar's head, or a breadroll, without thinking of the place.

Forgot the links, sorry: Rand Club, but of particular interest to Mr. FM and men of similar inclination would be this room and this room.
Place started going downhill when they allowed women into the bars, of course, but fortunately, I'd emigrated by then. Also, the Armoury is to be converted into a "business centre", which will no doubt cause many a deceased member to begin their grave-ly revolutions. Bah.

Uncanny - afternoon and early evening spent there. Did you have the grouse?

Matthew - sadly by the time that we ordered, they were out of grouse
