Uzi 9mm Sub-Machine Gun

This morning you find me on my way to a meeting with our Audit Committee & I have just spent the last 45 minutes fantasising about walking into the boardroom & brassing up every bean counter in the room with one of these...

An Uzi? Really? Not something more Stoutly Bulldogish, like a Sterling?

Well the compact size of the Uzi due to the telescoping bolt, esp. with the folding stock, makes it easier to take to a meeting.
For indoor use I'd make sure it could feed JHPs.

Nonsense. The sterling folds up very nicely into a small package, and is suitable for short range room clearing operations.

Still, regardless of the weapon dreamt about, it is the thought that counts.

OK, OK, we will do a Sterling post later this week

Mmm. Uzi goodness. That looks like mine, except that mine has the folding stock (are those allowed in the UK?), as it's an ex-Belgian-police model; they switched to Uzi's when they stopped carrying FN-FALs in the patrol cars. The silly paperwork should be arriving any day now, so I can finally get it home from the gunshop.

Denis: sadly, we are not allowed the things any more.

I'm a Sterling man myself!

Mr FM, what if one of them shoots back? I spent about a decade as a bean counter following my Army days...

I've never been a fan of the Uzi. A mechanical wonder, no doubt, but it's ugly. I'd sooner take the Sterling.

That said, I've always liked the idea of a satchel full of Mills bombs and a Browning High Power for such situations.

I'd recommend the Germtech Mossad II suppressor with 147 gr sub-sonics-very subdued-sounds like an air tool or something. The folding stock works nicely but the woodie is more ergonomic. Having said all that, I'd still like to have a Sterling...

DeSantis makes a nice shoulder rig to carry a folding stock Uzi. You carry it on the strong side. It is secured to the harness by a wide strap with thumb break that circles the receiver in front of rear sight. Muzzle rests in what resembles a baton holder attached to belt. To employ you draw as if drawing a pistol and bring up. You can fire with it still attached to the harness, or pop the release with the off hand. Two mags on the off side for spares and balance. I have one and it is quite concealable and fairly comfortable to wear as the weight is split between shoulder and belt. As I understand it, they were developed for the Secret Service. They also carried Uzis' in brief cases for awhile. There is one visible in footage of when President Reagan was shot.

The neatest little Uzi accessory is a Docter red-dot sight.

This guy makes very low mounts to go on the dustcover, which let the red-dot co-witness with the original aperture sights. Smooth.

In my experience, the little Czech Skorpion is more controllable than the Uzi on full auto. Yeah, I know, .32 ACP vs. 9mm, but a 35-round magazine covers a multitude of sins... and even if you're truly picky, you could opt for the Skorpion chambered in 9mm Makarov instead.

KIm, I'm surprised by the Skorpion. I thought the rate reducer thingie in the grip bouncing up and down tended to throw off one's aim, but I'll bow to your experience. Imagine, the Net actually doing what it wa ssuppsoed to do and some learning something! (Shhhhh...don't tell anyone)

PPSH-41.

Direct, brutal, and an astoundingly high ROF.

Ah, the sterling 9mm. It was good enough for Star Wars, it's good enough for me.

When discussing the reliability and general quality of the Uzi an Israeli once told me, "You know, you can throw an Uzi into a room and it will fight for itself."
