Another inconvenient truth
New York had its coolest June since 1985, according to government data, and it’s heading toward its second-coolest July in 140 years of record-keeping ... New York Central Park’s average June temperature was 67.5 degrees Fahrenheit (20 Celsius), down from 74.1 last year and 2.8 degrees below the 100-year average, according to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration data. The U.S. Northeast average was 63.2 degrees, 1.4 degrees below average. Nationwide, the average temperature was 0.2 degree below average.

Yep, I live in the NYC suburbs and haven't used air conditioning all year and fans only occasionally. At night I wear some of my long sleeve flannel shirts. There is a down side, tight shorts and short skirts among the young ladies seem to be scarce. The price we must pay to live in comfort, I suppose...

Even here in the South we have had a cooler July than in past years. Normally it is in the low 90s (fahrenheit) at this time; it is in the 70s.
The A/C isn't even on; the power companies will be frothing about that, especially since they have wanted everyone to go green. We did. We shut it off.
Heh.

Bah. It's not often I'm envious of Noo Yawkers, but so far we've had over 10 days of 100+ temperatures in Dallas (i.e., a typical N. Texas July), with still more in the forecast.
It's one of the few things I absolutely hate about Texas, but of course the hatred is somewhat mitigated by having zero state income tax, few gun laws, a balanced state budget and a legislature which can only convene every other year.
A couple weeks of "oven" temperatures doesn't even come close to tipping the balance.

Kim, It's nice to see you haven't lost your, umm, edge. Yeah, edge. That's it. And thanks again for getting me back into the gun cabinet.
