Why exactly?
My train into work this morning was half an hour late getting into London. It wasn’t caused by the fact that the entire rail network is run by numpties but because last night a piece of pondlife cut a signal cable ... in eight places. As we sat there not moving I had cause to wonder what on earth goes through someone’s mind that would cause them to cut through a control cable once, let alone eight times. Let just say that whoever did it, probably wasn't late for work this morning

They must have used your frequent flyer miles to get over here and cut the fiber-optic and telco cables.
Sometimes I wonder if it's spooks and saboteurs, and other times I think it's just gotta be a bunch of dumbasses.

That was one thing that I noticed while riding the tube around london when I was there ages ago.
Fiber in the open along the tube routes. If you want to create real havoc just cut them...
While playing OFORE in the army I was a real bastard to the cable dogs.
I would pin a line in multiple places as well as cut one conductor in half a dozen places also... It sends out cable dog crews for you to kill over and over again...
