Gun nuts are exploiting loopholes in the law
They are able to procure the weapons and ammunition, both of which they are allowed to keep at home, by exploiting loopholes in laws brought in to ban such guns after the massacre at a primary school in the Perthshire town 13 years ago. Hamilton, who shot dead 16 children and one teacher before killing himself, used two 9mm semi-automatic handguns and two .357 magnum revolvers manufactured by Smith & Wesson. After the massacre, legislation was tightened with a view to outlawing all such weapons.
To circumvent the legislation, the guns are equipped with longer barrels and wire stocks at the back which together extend their length to 2ft. Only “short” firearms are banned. Another loophole is for the barrel of the .357 to be kept short and the six-shot cylinder adapted to take “front-loading” bullets. Although the guns take longer to reload, they are in most other respects identical to Hamilton’s.

Sorry for my ignorance, I haven't been hanging around your blog for very long... Could you describe each of those beauties; make and caliber? BTW, News from Canada: The Conservative government is challenging the opposition parties to re-write the gun registry by excluding long-rifles and shotguns from the ridiculous waste of money (2 billion and counting). If you ask me we need to scrap the gun registry altogether!

What kind of logic is that? A perp owns a handgun (I have fired that type of caliber as a revolver and not as an automatic), uses it to commit heinous crimes and the law-abiding citizens who own them are now tarred with the brush?

My recommendation is take all that money and publicity you have put it to better use and stop this bullsh#@%t. If you want to actually save lives then EDUCATE THEM. Teach gun safety, finance safe range clubs. Teach people who want to carry how not to have their gun taken away and used against them. For those who don't want to carry teach them how to disarm an individual who has attacked them (If running away is not an option.)
