Killer Fact: My gran once danced with Mr Pierrepoint (not at the end of a rope, I might add!), and I have an old photo somewhere!

Actually, death is usually not instantaneous ... but complete paralysis is.

The prisoner gets to remain conscious during his suffocation, but he does not trouble onlookers with his unseemly twitching.


Still think shooting's better. I'm not THAT old-fashioned: one should move with the times.
