Actually both Transamerica buildings are in sight. The little green one on the right was/is the original. I think Frank Ford Coppola owned it at one time.

I love the weather in San Francisco. It is a city of decent food and bars. Ghirardelli Square and North Beach are good places to start, as is Fisherman's Wharf. Chinatown might be a bit much, given your recent travels in Asia, but still worth a visit.
I hope you are able to have some time to enjoy the city.
