Public holidays & liberals

This side of the Glorious Day, it is possibly unlikely that you will be greeted by a sight picture full of self loathing liberals … but hold on a minute, not all liberals are the same. & no, I haven’t been drinking. Promise. Take for example this little story that appeared in the South China Morning Post yesterday

Legco rejects union motion to give blue-collar workers more holidays

Under Hong Kong’s General Holidays Ordinance, most white collar workers get 17 days public holiday a year in addition to a mandatory minimum of 7 days paid annual leave. However all workers are only entitled to 12 days paid public holiday & in practice this means that many blue collar workers get 5 days less; hence yesterday’s protests …

Now if this were once-Great Britain, there would be miles of hysterical op-ed columns screaming from the pages of The Guardian & the likes of Polly Whineby would be frothing at the mouth. However compare say the likes of Nick Clegg with a certain member of the Hong Kong Liberal Party

Liberal Party legislator Tommy Cheung Yu-yan who represents the catering industry, said that calls by unionists for more rights such as minimum pay & a cap on working hours were “never ending”.

He said the if the amendment [to the General Holidays Ordinance] were approved, “Hong Kong will just take one step closer to becoming a welfare city, & it will scare away investors in the long run”.

& he calls himself a ‘liberal’ ??!? This man needs a bigger chest for all the medals I want to pin on him.

Jefferson was a Liberal.

During the Twentieth Century, the socialist cunts stole the name ... apparently people calling themselves socialist couldn't get elected dog catcher.

Some countries still use the term "liberal" properly.
