Is sodomy grounds for granting asylum?
An Iranian homosexual man who has said he will be executed if he is deported from the Netherlands has had his claim for asylum overturned. Mehdi Kazemi has said his life is in danger if he is returned to Iran, where he says his boyfriend named him as a partner before being executed.
I leave it to you, my ever erudite readers to decide but I still wonder why the Dutch taxpayer in this instance, should be responsible for an Iranian's lifestyle choices

The Netherlands gave passports to thousands of displaced Somalis in the 'nineties for humanitarian reasons. And with the magic of free movement within the EU by the early 'noughties many had turned up in the English Midlands and once they established residency here (three months) a good time was had by them and their interpreters courtesy of DWP. So, cynically, I say grant him asylum and a cheap plane ticket to Luton. Problem solved for the Dutch.
