Still looking for excuses

A week away & very little has changed

A devoted father was beaten senseless and left for dead after asking a gang of yobs to keep the noise down whilst his teenage son slept. Gary Yeomans, 44, was brutally attacked during a late-night confrontation with the thugs who knocked him to the ground before stamping on his head.

He had asked the group to be quiet once already that evening. After speaking to them from his bedroom window he later went outside to reason with them. But as he approached the drunken gang one of them violently attacked the father-of-two, sending him reeling to the ground with a single punch. Defenceless, he lay on the floor as his attackers kicked and punched him to within an inch of his life before running off laughing.

Yesterday, as a young career criminal with a string of previous convictions for violent attacks began an indeterminate sentence, police said he was lucky to have survived.
Highlighting the startling similarities with the attack which left 47-year-old father of three Gary Newlove dead they blamed Britain's growing binge-drinking culture on the rising number of victims. The attack on Mr Yeomans, they said, was the latest shocking example in a long list of alcohol-fuelled attacks.

Last week, 17-year-old Joe Dinsdale was stabbed to death on an estate plagued by drunken yobs - less than 24 hours after law graduate David Burns was punched to the ground and left fighting for his life when he confronted teenagers causing trouble.

On the same day, Good Samaritan Nick Baty, 48, died after a month in a coma following an assault. He had been attacked as he tried to help an injured youth he was lying in a car park.

The attacks prompted Ken Jones, president of the Association of Chief Police Officers, to hit out at the drinks trade for selling beer "cheaper than water" and making profits "on the back of this misery".

So, this sort of behaviour is now all the fault of the booze industry? In fact last Friday I watch Ken Jones on the box, espousing similar arguments & implicitly giving these mindless thugs an excuse for their inexcusable actions.

Speaking as someone who has endeavoured to fair chunk of his adult life under the influence, I have never felt the need, after a few Thursday evening sharpeners, to go & beat someone half to death – the obvious curve out to that statement is of course politicians, liberals & senior police offices that have a propensity to make such stupid statements. They deserve to be bludgeoned with any large heavy blunt instrument on just about any & every opportunity.

Until such time as the likes of the Association of Chief Police officers realise that there is NO excuse for this & the Courts start to lock up miscreants, nothing is going to change. The next time that I hear some talking head carping on that it is a lack of community facilities that is allowing these feral yoofs on to the streets, it is your humble correspondent welding a cudgel. Cheap booze (which in fact isn't cheap ... beer is now over £2.50 a pint) is no excuse & the sooner that everyone admits that, the sooner that something might get done about it.

So, next time some shithead starts ogling my bike at 3am, I can just shoot the bastard out the bedroom window (longbow, nice and quiet) as I could reasonably say I was in fear of being beaten to death if I accosted said scrote and there were as ever 'no police available' when I phoned the useless parasites.
Hmmm..... the more I think about it, the better it sounds.

After a few drinks you don't want to beat somebody to death?...the govt, guardian staff..and readers...greenpeace,iman of canterbury..the list goes on..I'd be exhausted and in need of another refresher by the time I finished.

Jesus H. Christ on a pogo stick, how do these people not understand that the alcohol abuse is a SYMPTOM, not the disease. There's no morals, no values, no parenting left in Britain. These kids have nothing to look forward to in life - even if they tried to get educated and be productive citizens, the state would take over half their paycheck anyway, so what's the fuckin' point?

Sure it would help if you could shoot the feral little shits, but you can't tell me with a straight face that the entire youth of Britain are criminals by nature. They've never been taught any different; of course they're feral. What Britain needs are Christian morals and PARENTING. Too late.

Legman:
No, of course the entire youth of Britain are not scrotes; my three aren't for a start.
The problem is that there is a visible minority of shitheads who get all 'yoof' tarred with the same brush; but lets face it, boy scouts and angelic children seldom make the papers.
I agree with what you say about morals and parenting, but it seems to me we have a generation who have never seen a household with a working person in it, and their parents came from the same sort of household!
Until we can break that cycle of dependency and the illiterate scum it breeds, the problem will only get worse.

A decline in the belief in personal responsibility is the cause for this rot. EVERYONE is a victim. They need to be "studied" and "helped" not forced to man-up and become young adults. The smart ones can play the system against itself. The stupid ones simply act out on their first impulse because the reptilian brain is all they know. Until society is willing to demand accountability, you will simply get more of the same. An identical dynamic pertains in select demographic groups in the U.S. Thirty years ago, the rozzers or the victim and his neighbors would simply kick the mickey out of these yobs before they were old enough to cause serious damage to others.
I like Robert's longbow idea. Very traditional as well as effective.

Legman is of course correct, sure not all are scrotes BUT the majority are and bringing your kids up half right makes the the oddballs, I have 2 kids and 3 stepkids and 99% of rows with the second and hopefully last wife are about this. I say one thing and tha stock answer it" but the other kids/parents dont" so without being a bastard I have to dilute my (low) standards. The government, law and church are conspicuously dishonest and immoral so the role models are fatally flawed so why are we supprised? As for the longbow, very nice but the courts will give a sentance that will equate to the total of the 4 yobs who kicked the guy to death.

some teenagers are like that and some are not, its the same way some adults are complete bastads and wankers at the same time. the problem is teenagers have nothing to do so hang around getting fucked on the cheapest subsance they can find, it doesnt help that the police cant be bothered to do they're job.

every day search the bbc news for man attacked and youll see aomebody attacked - not just by kids
