Saturday shooting

In the five minutes that it wasn't raining, Boy & your humble corrspondent whiled away time shooting tin cans

Nanny keeps saying that young people need to spend more time outdoors, but the same Nanny would keck itself if it knew just how much ammo Nipper goes through. Nothing like giving a young lad an air rifle, a tin of pellets & watch him enjoy himself.

Needs to align his right leg a tad straighter (along his line of fire), and he'll be perfect.

Apart from that "scope" thing, it could have been me at his age.

I once worked out that my brother and I had shot upwards of 1,000,000 pellets up the backgarden as lads. In the future it'll be worth mining!

As an American, I am quite distraught at the sight of that youngster with an air rifle. My oldest two, 10 and 12, insist on shooting centerfire. Cost a mint, occasionally they'll spend the afternoon with a rimfire, how do you do it?

Yeh, definitely need to move the young un' on up to .410s and .22 at the least. Can't give him one until he's 15 but I don't think there's a restriction on lending him your own on private land or letting him use club shotguns (though if you've got your own land you should get one of those plastic clay thrower sling things and blast away!).
