Immigration law enforcement?

If we actually have to have all of these government agencies & departments, something that I really question, it possibly isn’t too unreasonable to expect them to enforce all the multitude of laws & regulations that Parliament continues to foist upon us. However once again, it looks as though both politicians & civil servants have been telling great whopping pork pies to us stout bulldogs …

Immigration officers have been ordered to stop deporting foreign students who overstay their visas. A leaked memo obtained by the Daily Mail suggests they are not regarded as a high enough priority.

The secret edict makes a mockery of Government claims to be running a "robust" immigration system. Last night insiders in the service said hundreds of thousands of students - including many who never had any intention of studying - could be staying on illegally and were effectively being granted an amnesty.

Contrast if you will dear readers the Border and Immigration Agency’s attitude to enforcing the law (very selectively), while the police persecute anyone driving a few miles an hour over the speed limit with such Gasto gusto. The difference is of course that the government doesn’t make any money out of doing anything as mundane as actually enforcing our already absurdly lax immigration regulations where as speeding fines help feed the hydra-headed beast of Westminster.
