We don’t need another hero
Gordon Brown should create a new bank holiday in November to thank community heroes, a think tank has urged. The Institute for Public Policy Research says the day may also help his goal of building a British identity. Spokeswoman Kate Stanley said: "We need a day when people give something back to their communities," adding that the day would celebrate British diversity.
Now before we get started, it is worth noting that the Institute for Public Policy Research are unpleasant a bunch of low down liberal lefties as it has ever been my sorry displeasure to come across & aside from that they are great proponents on our ‘all must have prizes’ culture. For example Mizz Kate Stanley who is the IPPR’s director of research thinks that
We need a day when people ‘give something back’ to their communities and celebrate the diversity and pluralism of modern Britain. Awarding civic honours on a single national day would be a national ‘thank you’ for the many thousands of citizens who go out of their way to help others.
… for what exactly??
Oh, & while I think about it, we a not & I repeat NOT citizens, we are are Her Majesty’s subjects - & long may it remain so.
However, to get back on message do we really need a public holiday to celebrate diversity and pluralism of modern Britain? There is no such thing as diversity or pluralism in modern Britain – anyone that does not fit in with the Westminster village / meeejars view of Britain, is hounded & vilified for being out of touch.
& come to think of it, whats so great about modern Great Britain? Is it drive by shootings commited by teenage gangs, or is it illegal immigration? Perhaps it’s the divestiture of Parliamentary powers to unelected Eurocrats or maybe its just the whole slack jawed celebraty culture thing?
We don’t need anyway more heros … community or otherwise. A cursory glance at my On This Day column will give any sane & rational person enough heroes for a hundred lifetimes. What’s that, todays ape like scrofulous yoff cant relate to history because they were too busy shoplifting Gameboys to attend history class?? Well you only have to read the new reports from Iraq & Afghanistan to see where our contempory heroes are

You might be, but I and thousands like me have escaped. Can't you understand that was being "Her Majesty’s subjects" was the system that allowed our homeland to be colonised and destroyed at the whim of successive governments over the past half century?
