Monday Misery: Saddam, politicians & going postal
So Saddam has finally booked his long overdue appointment with a length of well oiled rope – not a moment too soon says I. I suppose that the prospect of one despot doing the final hemp dance should give hope to the oppressed all over the world … sadly we cant even manage regime change at home, let alone in Zimbabwe.
As one dictator is sent to the gallows, at home we have another wannabe trying to lecture everyone else about free trade while burdening the country with unprecedented levels of taxation & unimaginable levels of red tape. Meanwhile his boss is trying to weasel his way out of facing criminal charges for the sale of peerages. Consider this – the Attorney General (a close lackey of Princess Toni) is the man that could decide if the man that granted him of all of his ‘grace & favour’ job perks, should be charged for selling titles in return for their own political party’s funding.
Lord Goldsmith, the Attorney General, refused last night to distance himself from the cash for peerages inquiry which threatens to engulf Tony Blair, insisting that he had a "constitutional responsibility" to supervise prosecutions.
He made clear to The Daily Telegraph that he would take decisions about whether the Prime Minister or any other members of his inner circle should face charges if he was required to do so following a request from the Crown Prosecution Service. The Tories insisted yesterday that it was "untenable" for Lord Goldsmith, a Cabinet minister and close ally of Mr Blair, to be involved in any way because the public would never believe that he was acting independently.
An independent judicary, dear voters?
In fact, putting politicians into the box isn’t such a bad idea – as for charges, we could simply make them up as we go along (a bit like government policy) – alternatively under the concept of collective ministerial guilt, charge the bally lot of ‘em for leaving no stone unturned when it came to turning this country into an utter toilet: over run with criminals, CCTV cameras, terrorist sympathisers, government regulations & health warnings while at the same time as worshiping the false idols of multiculturalism, inclusiveness & Europeanization. A 1,000 years of history & tradition sold down the river for the privilege of being attacked in your own home by an asylum seeker.
Hang’em now & hang’em high – every time you see some posturing politico in the press or on the idiot box, ask yourself if this person wouldn’t contribute more of society dancing the gibbet jig? & yes if wasn’t do damn foggy this morning your humble correspondent would currently be heading for the clock tower with his packed lunch & scoped rifle - it’s a good job that Free Market Towers is a long way from the nearest McDonalds. Pah!

It's also a good job Mr Plod isn't reading your (albeit obviously humorous tongue-in-cheek) remarks about clock towers and scoped rifles or they'd pull your FAC before you could say 'Menezes'....Unless you're a Freemason of course

The goverment has ceeded so much power, they no longer have control on the taxes they levy in this country. I refer to the Goverments inability to waive vat on the Olympic contracts.
And we have a councillor removed from her party for forwarding an email stating a widely held view.
Great Britain?

I disagree with Stuart. Last week it was reported that a chap had been convicted of murder by shooting his ex girlfriend in the face at close range. It was reported that he held an FAC as well as a shotgun certificate, despite having a history of violence and making direct death threats toward women.
I doubt he was a freemason, though that was not reported.
It is this sort of buracratic blunder that threatens our hobby. Playing straight into the hands of the anti's.
