The Polish Kingdom was established. According to the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna, it become part of the Russian Empire

1850: Horatio Austin sails from London with fleet of four ships to search the Wellington Channel for signs of the Franklin expedition which had previously set out to discover the route of the fabled North West Passage

1917: British and Australian troops launched their second assault on the Hindenburg Line at Bullecourt. As before, the attack failed with heavy casualties.
