The Three Stooges

Reproduced (without permission) from Peter Pindar’s Rhyme & Reason column in the Torygraph…

Labour ministers surrounded by woes, with apologies to Hilaire Belloc & his Cautionary Tales ….

Patricia Hewitt’s tragic flaw
Was coming from the upper draw:
Endowed with intellect & poise
She shamed the rougher girls & boys.
Their barracking (met with a frown)
Increased till she was shouted down.

Charles Clarke delivered forthright views
Bark barking on the late night news.
His brain, ears stomach, face & beard
Combined to make him widely feared.
But when he dropped a monstrous clanger
The voters turned on him with anger.

John Prescott took a blunted axe
To English lexis & syntax.
He hit a man, & took to bed
A girl to whom he was not wed.
The made most of the world declare:
That is a personal affair.

Moral:
We hate those who look down on us
Much more than the adulterous

It peeves me a bit that Prescott got so much publicity from belting that farm worker.

Anyone who has ever been in a proper fight can surely recognise that Prescotts lame punch ( not so much a punch as sticking your arm out, with your fist clenched ) hadn't hurt the guy at all.
My Granny punched harder than that.

If the security people hadn't jumped in the good old country boy would have pounded Prescott into the floor, no doubt about that.
