My 5-year-old son uses better tactics when playing “Army” with his friends. Since his father is still a soldier, he has probably already picked up the serious attitude western nations have towards weapons and war.

This really does look more like ritual combat than a modern infantry battle. I refuse to believe that they are really trying to kill each other this way.

I notice one gentleman in your ‘Soul Train’ formation has a G3. While the AK47's and Uzi in one picture, are bullet sprayers anyhow, the G3 can be quite accurate in the right hands.

This 'soldier' seems to have selected a folding stock model and has not bothered to unfold the stock. Spraying bullets with a .308 would be considerably louder - maybe that's the idea.

Actually, one shouldn't dismiss the horizontal weapon holding firing stance so readily - clearly as a bullet leaves the barrel it follows a parabolic trajectory. By holding the weapon sideways these knowledgeable and elite soldiers therefore can use the parabola to fire around corners - a huge advantage in urban operations, and far less costly than the complex mirror angle, digital imaging, refractive sight helmet attached technology western armies are attempting to develop. We have been warned.

Interestingly perhaps ballistic tests have shown a dinghy flotation aid provides more effective protection than the usual bullet deflecting mirror worn around the neck. One for Qinetiq perhaps

I'm particularly impressed by some of the anti-camouflage techniques that some of these guys are employing - note the wearing of ultra-bright colours in order to dazzle the enemy, especially by the pair in the sixth picture down. Hate to break it to you but America is better, accept it. Our movies affect culture a world away, when war breaks out in some little country and civilians start getting killed we watch it on TV and debate what could be done because it doesn’t affect us. Some in the world want to topple America, they think that terrorist attacks and hostage taking are going to give them some sort of victory but that thinking just emphasizes how pathetically impossibly there goals are. If a group or individual was able to cause some kind of effect attack on American soil like the detonation of a dirty bomb or biological weapon where after the attack they still had the capability to carry out such strikes they would be found and any country that harbored them would be razed. Most of the rest of the world is just not important enough for the full strength, or attention of America to be focused on. Maybe the rumblings of china, or politics in India or Russia are worthy or our attention but anything else is just a distraction.

The powers in the world are what they are. Everyone else is just going to have to deal with being second class.

160 US soldiers went in, faced approximately 3,000 hostiles and killed 700-1,000 of them while only losing 19 of their own soldiers AND achieved the mission objective of capturing the Adid lieutenants that they set out to capture in the first place.

It was a battle, and in battle people die—including Americans. I'd hardly call the results, in the face of the odds, an "ass-kicking."

Funny funny stuff! A tinge racist at parts though... but for those of you who don't know, the Rap/hip-hop scene is HUGE in Africa, and has alot of influence on society there. Comments about imitating 50-cent aren't all that far off.

As far as the peculiar stances go, I have a little theory on that;

Knights in the 13-15th century would take to the field generally wielding a sword, shield and a very good portion of armor. These stances remind me of this trend amongst knights; though they are going to battle with lethal weapons, these men are unlikely to hit each other... yet we see them taking these awkward and ineffective stances on both sides of the conflict. Perhaps it is because they are obeying some sort of warrior code, wishing to participate in battle and displays of manliness without being harmed, so both sides develop showy ways of fighting that are utterly ineffective with the intent of minimal casualties. It seems to be some sort of unspoken agreement that soldiers on both sides will try as little as possible to actually harm other combatants. Provided, their weapons still inflict some damage, and still have the ability to break the morale of the other side, and so a victor can be determined but at minimal costs to either side.

Both sides are finding it essential to equip their soldiers with body armor capable of stopping high-power rifle rounds up to and including 7.62 x 54; arguably the most powerful infantry small-arms round in combat. However, both sides have equipped their soldiers with .22-caliber range weaponry (5.56mm US, 5.45mm China) which has been proven to have little or no effect on ceramic ballistics plates used in armor. With potential conflict looming ever closer, why have neither forces issued rounds capable of defeating eachothers' body armor? I believe it is because there is an underlying agreement that, though they want to prove their military might in combat, neither nation wishes to inflict massive casualties upon the other.

Racism? You could call it that I suppose, however what many of the self-righteous left wing indoctrinated politically correct masses do not seem to realise is that Sub Saharan Africa has different rules and different laws. They say it themselves.

For example I was talking to a Nigerian fellow who was explaining some of the fraudulent techniques applied in Nigeria and how it was perfectly normal.. they just do not have the same laws, rules, mentality as the West.
