Tough on flu, tough of the causes of flu

The last time that I saw the London Scottish’s medical officer, Mad Doc Muir, was on a Channel 4 documentary about venereal disease – a topic that his military service had no doubt given him some experience of. It wasn’t being confronted by a septic knob that most caused his blood pressure to rise however; it was flu. Any snuffling soldier claiming to be suffering from that particular illness would be swiftly assured that flu kills the young, the old & the weak and if you are well enough to get to the medical centre, then you don’t have flu.

But dahhhhhhllllllllings – avian flu is the new HIV. Its sooooooooo this season. In fact according to the latest consumer research it is set to replace Islamic fundamentalism as the greatest threat to our way of life, in the very near future. I have little doubt that some time this week we will be graced by the sight of that patronising buffoon B.lair lecturing us that in order for him personally fight the disease, parliament must pass his new anti-terrorism proposals unamended, or we will all be at greater risk.

Thus, Sir Liam Donaldson, Nu Labour’s top doc assures us that if Avian flu were to come to the UK & mutate it could kill 50,000 people – which is fine & dandy. I am sure that I can name at least 50,000 people that merit infection. So if that would just like to form an orderly line over there, I will break out the saw & get on with the task of knocking up some coffins.

Reading the papers yesterday it would seen that humanity is about to be gripped by a 1918/19 style pandemic has this current strain of avian flu has killed at least … oh half a dozen folks in the last year. Still, nothing like an ‘end of the world as we know it’ leader to aid digestion of Sunday morning’s kippers. Maybe it will be spread globally by the asteroids that are about hit earth?

Much more importantly is that maybe our pheasants are at risk. We are now just over a month away from shooting them – to be stricken by disease now??? I just hope that this particular pandemic has the good manners to wait until the end of the season on the 1st February before arriving.
