Who is there to save democracy & freedom?

With our Special Forces pretty much fully committed on ongoing operations in Afghanistan and Iraq & the police at full stretch tracking down our home grown Jubilee Line Jihadistas, it struck your humble correspondent that our resources are currently stretched rather too thinly for comfort. In the light of the deteriorating security situation, the question must be, who do we turn to?

Reading this thread on the Army Rumour Service yesterday, I spent my journey home pondering given the plethora to superheroes that we have, which would constitute the most effective counter terrorism force. Here are a few from ARRSE …

Superman
Pros: Super strength, X-ray vision - you name it, he's got it!
Cons: Wears his pants over his trousers; unlikely to relocate from Metropolis.

Batman
Pros: Utility belt, experience of urban operations.
Cons: As with Superman; unlikely to relocate from Gotham City.

Dr Who
Pros: Strong UK ties, the power of time travel, two hearts.
Cons: May p*ss off at the wrong time to fight the Daleks.

The A Team
Pros: Vietnam veterans with their own transport:
Cons: Cr*p marksmen; likely to respond to crisis by building a home-made vehicle.

International Rescue
Pros: Their own secure island and excellent transport assets.
Cons: Likely to let a bomb explode so they can spend ages using their vehicles to dig out the survivors.

& now a few others

Captain Scarlet
Pros: Holds field rank, well equipped & experienced in combined operations
Cons: Weapons systems configured to alien attack – not much use when the threat lives in the Yorkshire

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Pros: Experience in small unit tactics & urban operations
Cons: Vulnerable to ricin laced pizza & being named after a renaissance painter is unlikely to strike fear into the hearts of suicide bombers

Lara Croft
Pros: Cute, excellent taste in 4x4 vehicles & small arms specialist
Cons: Covert surveillance operations difficult due to being trailed by pre-pubescent boys (& their fathers)

Oh, that's damned good. Damned good!

What about Biggles?

I think that you have left off your most famous modern day hero...

Angle-Grinder Man...

(As seen on Fifth Gear...)

What about Col. Jenny Sparks?
Pros: power of electricity, a century of feild experiance, Union Flag shirt.
Cons: anarchist, dies five years ago.
