of egos & Africa

Africa, now there is a question. Not so much “what can I do?”, but more, “why should I bl**dy well care?” You know the scene, slumped on the sofa of sloth, glass of something dark & peaty close to hand, a large brown boy well up to cruising speed & smouldering gently in the ashtray. All of a sudden on the electronic babysitter, pictures of some fly blown hell hole c/o the dark continent grace the screen. My normal reaction is to duck as Mrs FM announces “so what?” before disappearing back into the pages of the latest edition of Yachts & Yachting …& that is on those rare occasions when she is in a good mood. Normally she is much more vociferous in her critique of such stories & I do have to confess, to concurring with her. The people are diseased & starving, governments are brutal & corrupt and the meeejar luvvies call in ‘news’? I think not.

Please don’t get me wrong on this point, its not that I am without compassion & am completely immune to human suffering. It’s just that it has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with me. Some time ago now, Africa wanted to throw off the shackles of white (European) colonial oppression - so we let them. Then the newly freed Africa wanted ship loads of money – so we lent it to them. Then they turned the entire place into an unmitigated shambles & according to Sir Bob Geldorf, it is all my fault & I should forward fund him to go & do something about it.

Even if Geldork is St Toni’s new best friend, I frankly have no inclination to try & save Africa, the planet or the blue tongued skink, come to that. Bobby-boy, your first album was great – I should know, I am old enough to have bought it – everything you have done since has been a big smelly pile of poo! Since you gave up being a minstrel, you have cantered around the moral high ground, shouting from your hobby horse ‘give aid to Africa’. & to exactly what end? So that various dictators can boost BMW’s sales figures? Pah!

Sir B, would are directly contributing to a massive over spend on police budgets in Scotland – I feel sure that the Council Tax payers of Scotland will be wanting a little word with you, when they see their tax bills next year. You advocate children playing truant from school & I would just love to see how exactly little Johnny missing his maths class is going to save the starving?

Yet the liberal left & their chums in the meejar just love all of this – well bah humbug to the lot of you. The money that I wont give to your ludicrous appeal is exactly the same money that I didn’t give to surfers that lost their boards in the tsunami disaster – it will go, as ever into the Royal British Legion collecting tin for this reason as well as a lot of others….

It is my experience that if you are going to ask someone for money (& the same applies for bank mangers as the general public), you put a suit on, have a decent shave & comb your hair. It shows respect to your donators/lenders, if nothing else. Sitting there looking like a bag of b*llocks shouting to camera “just give us you f’ing money” impresses me not. Besides, BMW salesmen already make enough bonuses – the only thing that scruff bag will achieve with the money that is donated … is to fund his own immense ego.

The biggest problem is the UN, they have failed miserably to police the place, despots have nothing to fear, the US should stop giving money the it, spend a little of the saving on arming the christians in sudan so they can show the islamifucks what genocide means, also snipe St Tonies mate robbo in Rhodesia and shoot the henchmen and straighten that place out, mount a few despots heads on spikes and see how carefull the other african leaders become (any lefties watching check out Mr Tourism in Lybia)
That is a program I will buy into

Red rags to bulls. The only hope Africa has, is if it is re-colonised. Africa has proved time and again (from North to South) that it is totally inept, completely corrupt, morally bankrupt and unfit to claim its place in this so called global village we live in. Of course, re-colonisation won't happen and we will continue to pour money into dictators private bank accounts. Don't forget, too, that it was only a few years ago that Libya chaired the UN Human Rights body.
