Foxes & rabbits have feelings, right up until the moment the bullet impacts

In those increasingly infrequent lucid moments, I have oft considered it strange that suddenly articles that I posted ages ago are suddenly picked up on & people suddenly start getting all angsty about stuff that your humble author has forgotten all about.

Back in January, I posted a picture of a retriever doing what it has been breed & is genetically pre-programmed to do … retrieve dead animals. Suddenly, the fox huggers have picked up on this.

Take for example Brian, he thought that we should
“stop doin the hunting this is crule to the foxs”
or maybe anon,
“OMG ill neva luk at a golden retriever the same way again..!”
Better still, hols
“this is inhumane and pointless harm...I strongly agree with such a sick joke!!.its true blondes do have fun but putting it like this is not funny...animals are not ours to use for entertainment nor sport!! think about the suffering.god didnt put animals on the earth to be treat in such way. he told us to look after animals not consider them as a sport!!!”
and Simon
“i hate u because u like fox hunting”
& sexy g
“this picture is SICK and should not be shown it is affensive and horrid to animalls if ure idea of a joke u have a sick mind”

So if the above didn’t like the fox pic, I don’t suppose that they will want to use this one as a screen saver!!!

OK OK OK … sorry, but I just couldn’t resist doing that! With a little judicious stirring from your narrator, I foresee a little punch up brewing (oh goody)!

Comments

What bizarre comments! Needed a giggle this morning, however, it doesn't (or, perhaps it does!) say a lot about your readership.

Always an interesting read. If shooting is bad for the fox, then why not just let a pack of dogs on them...oh. Never mind.

So you have gone 1 step further & bred a bunny hunting blond boy. Who said that there was no fun left in science. I bet he can shoot too & revers Ray Mears as well!

A good friend of the Alchemist's, fed up with her classmate's townie ways, brought a fox's head to class one day. I'd give a great deal to have been there...

I wander if my gov'nor still has that photo of young Alchemist with his first pheasant, a collection of 'kids with dead animals' would be just the thing to generate some horror in guardian readers.

I find your posts very interesting and revealing, especially from the perspective from someone living on the left side of the Atlantic in a southern (i.e., backward in many people's opinion) state. Some of the freedoms I take for granted are, apparently, non-existant on the right side.

Your son is as cute as a button (not quite sure where the expression came from, but you know what I mean). Good for him in nailing the rabbit, and I'm glad the picture irritates many of the looney left!

I thought you were joking when I read those comments.

Are you sure you're not making that up?

I merely ask, since it's difficult to credit that supposedly intelligent people can spell/argue/reason so piss-poorly (intelligent enough to get online anyway, which isn't saying too much).

Good point, Oubaas. If they had to enter a command line the internet would be a lot quicker due to the reduction of traffic.

Mr. FM's ... er ... um ... imaginative spelling excursions take on a different charachter. In other words, even he isn't that bad.

Thank you StinKerr, thank you. If you follow the link back to the original post - you will the comments in their all their original glory!!

Being an avid reader of Mr FM's exploits It has finally dawned on me that we really do live in a very sad society. Where the freedom of speech really means that you are only ever heard and taken note of if you are part of an extremist/minority group, and that the rest of us who strugle to pay our way and enjoy the little apre work time that we are able to take ( I mean someone's got to pay for the minorities/scroungers/lazy good for nothing dossers ) are ignored - our lifestyles trampled upon and pushed aside by the afore mentioned minorities who think they know whats best for us all. Enough said... Pass the organic/ethical and tastless choccy biscuit (not allowed to mention good old CADBURY's not pc!!!)

nice bunny...stewed or fried?

reminds me of a few years ago at University. i lived off a pack of winchester Super-X Subsonic HPs for a year, no need to buy over-priced over-tough supermarket gristle, just wander out one dusk a week and bring back enough rabbit or hare to live on for the week.

roast, soup, stew, kebab, rice rissoto, stir fry, BBQ, fried, Tandoori, minced and made into patties or sausages.

There are so many different ways to eat cute lil bunny wabbits. :D

I wish my kids were as fortunate as yours in seeing nature as it is, the sport of shooting actually helps wildlife. Gun dogs retrieving a kill? they didn't evolve chewing on squeaky toys and rolling around in bog roll you know! A kid with a tasty meal he provided? shame on him! He should be out wearing Burberry, a hoodie and drinking alcopops or stuck indoors playing on the latest brain destroying console game.

Stay the course.

Keep up the fight mate. In Australia we have over 6 billion rabbits and that's after Myxo killed 98% of them!!!! Not to mention foxes (40 million of the blighters), feral Pigs (50 million), and feral goats (100 million). And with Draconian gun laws here to stay we're going to have hard time getting rid of them. Come on Downunder if you want to bag some vermin. You will help us out a heap.
