Fear of the electorate
They just don’t want to ask us the question, do they? It doesn’t matter what promises have been made to us poor bulldogs, the ‘surrender to Brussels camp’ are now desperately trying to duck the issue & in the face of possible ‘no’ votes in France & the Netherlands next week. Given that the latest ICM poll showed that 54% of the British electorate would vote no (with 15% undecided) our 5th Columnists are busy trying to back peddle....saying that if another country votes no, then there is no point in holding a referendum.
Pondlife!
Mr B.liar stood up in the House of Commons & said there would be a referendum & whilst my little Tony isn’t exactly noted for keeping his word, we should hold him to it on this point. It seems to completely pass our (predominately pro-European) political class by that their opinions are not the issue here – it is what the man on the Clapham omnibus thinks that is important & if 50.0000001% vote not to accept the European Constitution, then the politicians of whatever hue should respect that & get on with life.
However, with the usual sickening inevitability, I strongly suspect that there will be no referendum for as long a the pro-Europe camp thinks it will be given the royal order of the boot. Even if we are allowed to have a say in the future of the country, if we give the wrong answer, they will keep asking the question until such time as our politicians deliver what is deemed to be an acceptable answer to their masters in Brussels & Strasbourg

Or just keep doing what they have been doing, handing over powers a little at a time. Remember "Salami Tactics"?

have you read the Aachen memorandum?
It is all about life in 2045, with King William reigning in New Zealand having escaped the euros & Brussels ruling the whole of Europe & lo & behold it turns out that the referendum that we voted in 2006 was rigged.
I have a couple of copies & can send a copy to FM towers if you would like. It gets 5 stars on Amazon.

Wasn't the Alchemist just saying exactly the same thing yesterday.

If Holland vote "no", it will also be seen as a rejection of the Parliamentarians, 85% of whom support it, Employers association, trade unions and the media elites, according to the Economist.
