… in which Mr FM gets properly tooled up

On the outskirts of Manchester, NH is a non descript warehouse building, home to the Manchester Firing Line Range - & a jolly fine place it is to. Escaping the rigors of Mrs FM’s shopping regime, your humble correspondent was awarded a 3 hour ‘trigger time’ furlough.

As previously posted, the club has an excellent choice of ironmongery for hire & I confess it was a little bit like being 5 years old again & in the sweet shop. The way it works is that you hand over some photo ID & of course, your credit card, pick out what you want to shoot & go & shoot it. Simple as that. Forget fast food, this is fast firearms, American style.

So, the morning’s entertainment started with a 9mm Sig before moving on to a Beretta M92.

A couple of boxes of 9mm later & I was heartened to discover that I could still just about manage to shoot a pistol, despite the intervening years.

Whilst Mrs FM commented, “that will be dead then”, I confess that this was shot at only 10 yrds - so not a real feat of marksmanship.

From the Beretta it was on to the wheelguns with this lil .357 S&W. It must have been 1983 when I last shot a revolver whilst a member of
what was then, our local pistol club.

It was then that things started to get a little out of hand as I picked an H&K MP5 off the wall … all semblance of ammunition control went straight out of the window as mag after mag of 9mm went downrange.

To finish up, a final box of ammo through the Glock & off to pay the bill - which for all of this came to a mere $178. Value or what?

Anyway, the link to the clubs website is at the top of this post & there are more contact details below. Give them your business, they are fine people. I would just like to add my own personal note of thanks to the staff - you made one bulldog very very very happy & just like Mr S, I'll be back

I've never understood this concept of "ammunition control", myself.

One shoots until the ammo is gone, and then one buys more. "Control" has very little to do with it.

This is totally out of context, but you have to giggle...

Posted this here as couldn't spot the mailto link through my hangover.

For one, unutterably stupid moment (on my part) I thought you were talking about this country (I saw mention of Manchester)...I was looking for my credit card as well! :(

BTW 10 yards is 30 feet (ie a tad beyond spitting distance) - were you thinking of anyone in particular? cos you completely f***ed em if you were !! :)

I'm not old enough to own a pistol myself, but I imagine I'll be laying off the 9mm, .357, .45, etc. in favor of .22 LR: not as much power, but much cheaper, so lots more fun.

Well we have been considering New Hampshire as a new home after The Great Escape...
Isn't it a blue state though - yuk!

tony - must confess, I was unutterably stupid for a moment as well!

I was also thinking WOW OMG, i can finally shoot a pistol without taking a plane over the pond.... :'( sob.-manchester- lol, i was gonna ask if there was anything closer to kent lol
