Of Broadcasters & Patriotism
This makes me puke & if I was sober enough at the moment to actually crawl to the gun cabinet, get tooled up & drive to London … believe you me dear readers, I would. Nothing, & I mean nothing would give me such sheer & unmitigated pleasure as being able to errrrrrr remonstrate, by means of a few ballistic tipped ‘persuaders’, with Richard Sambrook, director of the BBC's global news division.
You see, Dick Spermbank or whatever the hell his name is & whose salary is paid for by the British public, thinks that American media organisations were being too patriotic in the run up to the Iraq war. According to this (always unbiased) Baghdad Broadcasting Corporation employee,
"Before Iraq, it seemed to me that some U.S. news broadcasters wrapped themselves in the flag &, as a consequence, did not perform the role the public expects of them,"
Well Mr Numpty, the news is that your coverage of Iraq was so disgusting that even the matelots on HMS Ark Royal went to their officers & asked them to turn off the BBC. A more sensible option would have been for the Fleet Air Arm to start dropping some of their ‘morally illegal’ cluster munitions on the enemy HQ i.e. the BBC headquarters in White City.
Frankly, I do not care if you are patriotic or not – that is an individuals right of choice. However & it is a 60’ high HOWEVER with floodlights & dancing girls – if a broadcaster extorts £116 per annum out of my taxed income (gross it up to allow for 40% tax i.e. £193 per annum) that organisation should have the decency & integrity not to pursue their own liberal-left wing stop the war bleeding heart agenda. These publicly funded pond life never let anything as simple as the truth get in the way of the story they want to spin. Furthermore, it is testament to their monumental arrogance that they believe that other networks should do the same.
According to Spam-poke, the media should be asking even more searching questions about the war &,
“If a news organisation imbues itself with patriotism, it inhibits itself from asking some of those questions."
Well patriotism is something that the Bolshevik Broadcasting Corporation could not in my worst alcohol fuelled fantasies, be accused of. All through the war, you could almost sense the palpable disappointment from BBC journalists & commentators as coalition forces dealt out another proper spanking to the bad guys. That theme continues to this day, as the plain truth that for the overwhelming majority of Iraqis life has got a whole lot better, strangely seems to allude our comrades at Broadcasting House
Instead of spunking my taxes away on a game of King of the Moral High Ground & digital TV channels that have an audience significantly lower than this site, the BBC would do well to remind itself that the first B in its title stands for British – not bullshit!
Now, as Mrs FM has just hidden both the keys to the gun cabinet & Landrover: I am just going to have to confine myself by visualising Mr Sambrook, hog tied, duct tape over his mouth hanging upside down from a butchers hook, while Satan’s own roller-skating hag-handmaidens prepare a caldron of super heated curry & ... the enema kit. A joyous thought with which to slip into unconsciousness.
Comments
Mrs.FM is a wise woman.
Afterall, the rifle is precisely the wrong weapon to deal with the beeb. Far too precise and elegant to deal with the generalized rot.
Take a page from the BBC's heros in the middle-east, and given them a RDX wake-up call. Truck bomb style.
