Landrover & Gun Culture
Have you seen the Landrover Freelander advertisement - the one where the woman picks up a revolver & chases after some bloke getting into the aforementioned vehicle? She raises her weapon & then points it vertically & uses it as a starting pistol as he drives off. Well if you haven’t seen it already, you won’t because OFCOM have banned it after receiving 300 complaints from ‘viewers’. Apparently, the ad glamorised gun culture. OFCOM said that the advertisement “made light of genuine concern about gun culture”. Eh?
So there you have it – government appointed moral arbiters of our advertising industry deem that a woman using a starting pistol should be banned from the airwaves. Sexual innuendo & all of the other tripe that the likes of Torquil from Wapcaplet Goose Liver Vendetta & Prang churn out is OK – but put a pistol in an advertisement & some governmental lacky will force you from the airwaves. What utter pants! What an emasculated country we have become … pah! So, for the benefit all you ponces at OFCOM, have a butchers at these little beauties ….

Oh & for all you bleeding heart liberal sandal wearing gun grabbing nangers out there that complained about a starting pistol (was your objectivity obscured by your tie dye bandana?) … phuque you & phuque your pathetic attempts to impose your warped values on me & my family – I spurn you all as I would spurn a rabid dog. Family FM embrace gun culture. Next week I was going to buy myself a Martini Henry actioned rifle – well that just got brought forward

Lucky they did not mention that Landrovers biggest customer is the armed services throughout the world - oh that would be too close to the bone & also you can easily buy gun racks to help keep those dreadful weapons safe in your vehicle. what do they think that Landrovers main purposes are - school runs or utility vehicle for farmers & soldiers. It may be upsetting if the advert had been for an overspoilered & blue light, drum n bass extra loud stereo vuaxhall Nova or such like - that would have been naughty to have guns n lads in the same advert.

I did a double take when saw the title!
I've emailed OFCOM with my complaint about the ruling, wonder if I'll get a response!

McHugh ... funny you should mention that, I can't think of the number of times that I have dropped off your Godson at school with having some sort of firearm in the back .... tee hee!! in a 'properly secured container' of course.
& when we go up to Scotland in a couple of weeks, what will we take....errrrr
1 Defender
1 Range Rover
6 shotguns
2 rifles
7 gundogs
& a whole load of ammo ........
Maybe we should make a video of the trip & send it to OFFCOMMIE

Does this mean they're going to ban showing races from the Olympics, too? They're usually started with a starting pistol...

Mr. FM,
Excellent idea! Offer your services to Landrover, and if they decline you and have your own "underground" ad, extolling the virtues of gun culture... err.. Landrover!
Goodness. I used to laugh at victorian foibles about what was proper and could be seen in public, but the prats at OFCOM are worse.

Cripes! With all your hunting gear, you are going to have to buy a sankey trailer for your Rover!

i think this calls for the creation of OFGC&L, whose sole aim is to demonstrate the many purposes & benefits of Guns n culture n landrovers. Also to petitionagainst lame adverts about washing up powder unless the particpants have just got back from the shoot or a decnt days off roading. Also to campaign that green is the new black!

Gun culture in the UK?
Maybe I have been away too long! I don't remember there being any problems like that while I was growing up in Scotland.
Maybe we give all those Corsa-boys 9mm's and let them kill each other before they have a chance to procreate.
