One from the vaults

I orginally posted this in back in 2004 however over lunch with Mr Bambi Basher last week, we had cause to refer to it. So in the interests of accuracy, here it is once more...

As our correspondent Sir Archibald Clerk Kerr says, it takes a Turk! Sir Archibald, you are a prince among men

heh

took me a second to get that one

Of course, it took the British to teach the Turks to use cards in the first place.

Ah... the joys of bilingualism. Or, in this instance, cunnilingualism.

I still don't get it to be honest. Would someone bother to elaborate for a non native speaker?

Brazilski

It's a phonetic pun.

Mustapha, the Turkish name, when pronounced by an English speaker sounds like "Must Have A"

Meanwhile Kunt, sounds like the English vernacular term "Cunt" referring to a certain portion of a ladies intimate anatomy.

"Mustapha Kunt" becomes a phrase that, taken literally in a phonetic manner, means "I need sex"

It's almost as bad as an American speaker on an English stage introducing himself "Hi, I'm Randolph, just call me Randy"

Oh my gosh! I thought I was going to have a conniption when I read it. I couldn't believe I was reading it right. Thanks, Rhys, for confirming it!

That's almost as bad as the two actual names I've encountered:

Eric Litoris
and
Mike Hunt

AAArgh!
