Well, this was the view out of my office window at lunchtime today! I think that these photos make an interesting contrast to the ones I posted about the anti-Bush protests (see previous posts)!!
Latest reports are that their are 750,000 people on the streets of London welcoming home our players
We're all proud of you because for what you have achieved
What is interesting is the way the English rugby team play & behave unlike the nasty little spoilt football players who never win anything & all seem to end up on rape charges.......
as we learnt at school, football is a game for yobs, played by yobs & watched by yobs - well at least I think it went something like that!

What an eye opener! All those English supporters so happy and excited. I heard an estimate of one million. What a shock for the armies of the Left-Liberal elite, and MPs who link Rugby Union with fox hunting. What a panic! All that popularity up for grabs at a time when they are all pretending to be interested in soccer. Talk about wrong footed! But that wily old Trot Red Ken was in there glad handing honest men, never at a loss for a bit of coat turning.
A triumph, and not even the odd billion of tax payers money invested. A shot in the arm for the poor despised English who alone of the British Nations is not thought fit by New Labor to merit a national Parliament. Did you ever see so many Crosses of St George?
The Constitutional Iconoclasts with a gift for preferring the sleaziest. But wait until this evening for the spectacle of Tone and associated heavies pressing the flesh.Look out for Tessa and the politically correct feminist harpies, Jack the knife, blind Pew, and butcher Brown. Even the fat controller may horn in. A chance to see the best and the worst, the English team and the Gay Gordons government.

Only Five hundred police needed - and judging by the photo they were there for crowd safety - and NO arrests.
I wouldn't dare compare that to The Notting Hill Carnival - but some might:
"The cost of policing Europe's biggest street party shot to a record £4m this year following the violence that marred last year's event in which two people were murdered and 90 stabbed. A total of 10,000 police officers - 1,500 more than last year - and 80 extra CCTV cameras were put on the circular route for the two-day festival. But Scotland Yard's Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Andy Trotter, said: "Carnival should not cost £4m in policing."

I was thinking about studying abroad in London and I was just curious of some of the events that go on during the year, b/c I haven't found out whether I can go for a year or if I can only do a semester.

funny you should mention the way england plays rugby. there's a reason they're the most hated team in the world. they simply bring the ball into the opposition's half and kill the game. they wait until the other team commits some error. when they try to play correctly they lose the ball.. as was shown in the grand final of the rugby world cup 2007.. which england lost in
