This Is Why I Loath Chirac

or, England didn't really win the World Cup..............

Euro-spin has reached new heights over the weekend & the shamelessness of the French President with his Federal Europe once more manifested itself. In an attempt to rebuild Anglo-French relations, today will witness the unedifying spectacle of Tony Blair toadying up to Jacques “Weasel in Chief” Chirac – I am almost moved to go & protest, I loath this man so much.

Why should we have anything to do with Chirac? I can almost understand the Germans’ stance on the Iraq War i.e. we are going to remain neutral & have nothing to do with it; although German neutrality is an interesting concept. Lets just say that normally they are a little more partisan! But the French actively campaigned against the War on Terrorism. Perhaps President Two Faces should meet some of the bereaved from Istanbul? Then he might understand why we fight.

It however doesn’t stop there & why am I not surprised that it gets worse. On Saturday morning in Sydney, in torrential rain, England won the World Cup 20 -17, beating Australia in what can only be described as a thrilling & nail biting final. Having been convincingly dominated in the first half, Australia came back with all of the grit & determination that has long been the mark of that Nation (just read the battle honours of the ANZAC Division) to draw the score by the final whistle. In extra time, England’s fly half, 24 year old Jonny Wilkinson scored a stunning drop goal with practically the last kick of the game to take the days honours. England erupted! Just wait till the lads get back tomorrow – lets see how many people cheer them home.
(Cue more rugby girls at this point)

So England are victorious – well not exactly. Apparently, Chirac telephoned Tony Blair to congratulate him and said: "This deserved victory is also a victory for Europe."

A victory for Europe, methinks not! I seem to recall just over a week ago England sent France packing, beating them in one of the semi-finals. It was England playing in the final & it was England that won. What’s this bloody well got to do with ‘Europe’.

Using this paradigm, I’ll like to look some other events in French history:

1805 – Nelson destroys the Franco-Spanish fleet of Cape Trafalgar.
Chirac states “This is a victory for EU Fishing Quotas”

1815 – Wellington defeats Bonaparte at Waterloo
Chirac states “This further cements European ties”

1940 – Royal Navy sinks French fleet at Toulon
Chirac states “This is another example of strengthening Anglo-French relations”

I could go on & might if I can be bothered to re-edit this, but I shall leave you with a final thought. When I was at school, I recall reading this quotation - where it came from & what the book was about I don't recall, but this stuck in my memory.......
"The English refer to Europe pityingly as the Continent. They go there to observe, to trade and occasionally fight the French"

occasionally fight the Phrench..." AND WIN!
Well done. ChIraq is a sore loser. What a sleazoid thing to do. And who taught him geography? Since when is England part of Europe I would like to know?

France, soon to become the first Islamic state in Western Europe. I wouldn’t put any of my eggs in that basket.

France's and Germany's reluctance to partake in the Iraq war was purely financial. After trading with and loaning money to Saddam, they are worried that the debt won't be paid back. They want the people of Iraq to pay back the money they loaned to Saddam. The same money he used to oppress them and finance terrorists.

The UK/US coalition should tell the world, “If you trade with dictators, the dictators owe you the money, not the country oppressed by the dictator”. The people of Iraq do not owe France or Germany anything, except contempt.

Viva le Iraq

mmmmmm, rugby girls.

Yeah Chirac SUCKS.

Excellent! I love listening to others taking a dump on Chirac.

Admittedly, I only come here for the babes of rugby, though.

A neighbour of mine, when reflecting upon Chirac and his verbage, remarked: "Winning the World Cup was good for England. Trafalgar was good for Europe."

By his statement, would you believe Australia to be an enemy of Europe for them to need a victory against us?

Well Australia can beat up France any day of the week.

My god... I am so pleased to read all your dumb statments! DID YOU EVER THOUGHT BY YOURSELF?
As citizen of Switzerland you can not blam me for patriotism and might want to consider my says: do not beleive that you are right because you decided you are.
I do not consider a politician as the exact reflexion of the country he governs. Do people beleive that americans are as stupid as the Republican chimp that was elected in there country... Same applies to France and Italy!

Keep on trying thinking... it might work once!

Toff, I think more people might understand your contribution if you write it in ENGLISH.

Toof,
Sounds like someone has written your dialogue.
Darlin', I thinks for mahself, and votes the way Ah wants to.

Ah doan lak Chirac, but hey hey honey lamb, Ah din't vote foah him neithah. Sounds lak you-all in Swiss france did. Talk about a herd mentality.

Let me tell you what all this is: We all agree
with Bush and Mr Blair. We are on the right side of the fence. We are not on government subsidies for food, shelter and clothing, as well as internet service. We go out and work for that every day.

Darlin, what-all do you do for a livin'?

1815 - Wellington defeats Bonaparte at Waterloo
Chirac states “This further cements European ties”

Actually, that one would be true. It wasn't Wellinton alone that beat Boney, at Waterloo, it was Wellington and Blucher, the Prussian. It wasn't the British alone that put paid to the French (except at sea), it was a coalition of British and Europeans, including the Russians, all united by justified antagonism to France.
