UK & Australian Citizenship
Children are now required to study 'citizenship' at school - well it makes a charge from media studies. Now I thought that this might be about traditional values & indeed the Aussies citizenship test fully embodies the spirit of that great nation.
Now compare that with what candidates have to sit over here:
UK CITIZENSHIP EXAM
Paper 1: Managing Citizenship and Promoting Awareness (Time allowed - 3 hours)
This paper contains two sections
Section A: Essays
All students must answer two or no questions from Section A. Marks will be awarded regardless of ability, accuracy, relevance or aptitude.
Section B: Multiple Choice
All students must answer all questions or none at all, depending upon the individual's needs and personal background.
Section A
1. You are a public service worker who needs to force the Government to give into your astronomical wage demands. Show how you might use European Human Rights Legislation to hold the Country to ransom. Additional marks will be awarded for illustrating your answer with reference to destruction of public property, intimidation of non striking colleagues or the use of illegal secondary strikes.
2. Citizenship is about redistribution, as is burglary. Explain how lessons learnt in woodwork and metalwork can be applied to breaking and entering other peoples houses. Indicate how you might use the legal aid system to ensure that you get away with it.
3. 'Nicking cars is wicked' What do you understand by the term 'wicked' in this context? Discuss with specific reference to module 54.iilb/; 'Joy Riding'.
4. Show how you might use your key stage 7 computing skills to steal the details of 16 credit cards and make purchases worth several thousand pounds at Dixons. In your opinion has there ever been an easier way to get loads of free stuff?
5. What is the point of learn French when all of the best pornography now comes from EU accession states in Eastern Europe?
6. 'Lets Get Down to Business'-Eminem. Stealing mobile phones is more lucrative than stealing car stereos. Discuss with reference to your Business Studies seminars.
7. 'Come on, baby, light my fire'- Has arson become irresistible?
Section B
1. Mark these key skills in order of usefulness.

b.Shoplift some new Nike trainers
c.Demand the DSS pay for a new widescreen TV and Sky Sports subscription

Excellent Aussie exam, I think I stand a slimish chance of getting in to the Northern Territories at least!
